Everton will take on Southampton at the St. Mary’s Stadium on Saturday afternoon hoping to pick up maximum points on the road. The Toffees are in dire need of a run of positive results so that they can put some distance between themselves and the dreaded relegation zone in the league table.
Marco Silva will stick with his favoured 4-2-3-1 formation and might hand Gylfi Sigurdsson a start in place of the injured Andre Gomes.
4-2-3-1 Everton Predicted Lineup To Face Southampton
Defence
Jordan Pickford will keep his spot in goal for the Toffees after securing two clean sheets in his past four starts on all fronts. Yerry Mina should be fit enough to start alongside Mason Holgate at the centre of the Everton backline. Both defenders will need to keep things solid at the back if they are to stand a chance of securing a shut-out away at Southampton this weekend.
Djibril Sidibe should keep his place at right-back after he put in a couple of impressive displays in recent weeks. Lucas Digne is a nailed-on starter in the left-back position. The French full-back will be one of the main creative outlets for the visiting team this Saturday.
Seamus Coleman will have to be content with a place on the bench but might get a chance to make an impact if needed.
Midfield
Andre Gomes suffered a serious injury against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend so he will be unavailable. Therefore, Silva will opt for Fabian Delph and Tom Davies to assume the duties of the anchormen in midfield. Both players will focus on breaking down most of the Saints attacks and will also be responsible for feeding balls to the front players. The talented trio of Alex Iwobi, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Theo Walcott will look to interchange passes amongst each other and create some decent openings as part of Silva’s attack.
Sigurdsson has not started in any of Everton’s past four matches in domestic competitions. The Icelandic international will be desperate to score a goal so that he can get some confidence back in his game. Bernard will miss out on this contest as he is currently sidelined with a knee injury.
Attack
Richarlison will once again get a chance to impress while operating as a centre-forward up top. The Brazilian attacker needs to find some consistency in terms of goal-scoring, so this will be the perfect time for him to register his name on the scoresheet versus the Saints. Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Moise Kean and Cenk Tosun will all start on the bench but might get the opportunity to come on and make an impact in the second half if required.
