Tottenham Hotspur will face off against Red Star Belgrade on Wednesday hoping to secure a win away at the Rajko Mitic Stadium. Spurs are in dire need of a victory as they have already dropped too many points in the UEFA Champions League this season.
Mauricio Pochettino is expected to opt for a 4-2-3-1 formation and might make a few changes to his side for this contest versus Vladan Milojević’s men.
4-2-3-1 Tottenham Hotspur Predicted Lineup To Face Red Star Belgrade
Defence
Paulo Gazzaniga will keep his place in goal for the trip to Red Star Belgrade in midweek. The Argentine goalie is in dire need to secure a clean sheet after failing to keep any in his last two starts for Spurs.
The centre-half duo of Davinson Sanchez and Toby Alderweireld will have to feature again for the North London outfit on Wednesday night. Pochettino does not have the luxury to rest any of his first-team defenders as Jan Vertonghen is unlikely to be fit in time for this clash. Juan Foyth will be available on the bench and might get a chance to come on and make an impact if needed.
Serge Aurier will once again assume his duties as the right-back while Ben Davies tries to put in a tireless shift in the left-back position. The Spurs defence has been leaking goals of late which is never a good sign. Hence, this game against Red Star could be a perfect opportunity for them to get things right at the back in midweek.
Midfield
Both Tanguy Ndombele and Harry Winks could lineup as the holding midfielders as they focus on dictating play to create some decent openings for the front players. The technically gifted trio of Heung-min Son, Dele Alli and Lucas Moura are expected to play just ahead of them as part of Pochettino’s attack. Son looked distraught after his horror challenge on Everton’s Andre Gomes last weekend, so there is a slight concern over whether he would be the right space of mind to feature in this clash away at Belgrade.
Christian Eriksen could be benched for this game, and the Dane will be joined by Moussa Sissoko who has played a lot of football for Spurs this season. However, Erik Lamela will be sidelined for this game due to injury.
Attack
Harry Kane is a major doubt for this game as he continues to recover from his illness. He will be in a race against time to be fit for this encounter. However, if the English striker is available, then he is a nailed-on starter in Pochettino’s first-team.
Troy Parrott might play as a back-up to the English frontman on the Tottenham bench.
