According to the latest reports from the Sun, Kylian Mbappe is Real Madrid’s no. 1 transfer target for the future, and they could offer Gareth Bale as a part of a swap deal. PSG will reportedly demand £260m for him. The Frenchman currently has the highest market value because he is just 20.
Gareth Bale has had a love-hate or more of a hate-hate relationship with Real Madrid of late. The Welsh winger came close to leaving in the summer, but the move failed to materialise. He has done well this season so far, but Real Madrid will reportedly jump to sell him if that could help them in getting Mbappe.
The versatile attacker is contracted at PSG until 2022. The Frenchman has once again started his season on a strong note as he has six goals and fours assists to his name in 8 appearances in all competitions so far. His overall record for PSG is nothing short of exemplary as he has 66 goals and 36 assists in 95 appearances.
Given his value, not many clubs in the world would be in the transfer race to sign him. Real Madrid spent close to £300m this summer on new signings. However, Zinedine Zidane is yet to get the best out of them, and the Galacticos haven’t started their new season in a blazing fashion.
Is it realistic for Madrid to sign Mbappe?
Along with Bale, even James Rodriguez could be offered in a swap deal. However, we think that PSG are unlikely to be that naive on sending away their top talent for players who are on a decline. Not many clubs will have the financial muscle to get Mbappe, but if there is one club who can sign him, then that is Real Madrid.
We think that if the Galacticos go on to struggle another year and Zidane ends up trophyless, then he can very much be handed the money to sign Mbappe next summer.
Mbappe is a versatile forward as he can play on either of the flanks or in a central role. He is a powerful runner with the ball but what makes him really stand out is his composure in front of goal. The World Cup winner gets on the scoresheet regularly, and he often seems to make the right decision in the final third.
It will undoubtedly be a big triumph for Real Madrid if they manage to get him. We think that even Mbappe might be keen to prove himself in other top leagues as he has just strolled through the Ligue 1 in the last few years.
