Celtic produced a stellar display at home to topple Lazio in the Europa League. The Hoops are also back on the top of the table in the Premiership, albeit on goal difference. Neil Lennon’s men will now travel to the Pittodrie to take on Aberdeen this weekend.
Aberdeen haven’t been at their best so far this season, but there have been signs of improvement of late. The Dons have lost twice so far in the league, but drawing games which they should have won has cost them so far. Celtic ended the international break with a bit of a hiccup, but they seem to have regrouped, and the Bhoys have done well in the last two games. Even though they have looked below par this season, the Dons are always a tough matchup especially at home so Celtic cannot take this tie for granted.
Team News: Goalkeeper Scott Bain is still out with an injury. Olivier Ntcham is also a doubt for this clash. Michael Johnston path to recovery hasn’t been going well, and he is expected to miss out once again. Jozo Simunovic is a long term absentee. Ryan Christie is suspended after he was shown the red card against Livingston.
Celtic predicted lineup vs Aberdeen
Formation (4-2-3-1)
Defence
Fraser Forster is expected to feature in between the sticks once again. Christopher Jullien should be high on confidence after he scored a last gasp winner against Lazio. He should start in defence.
Kristoffer Ajer has looked a bit shaky of late, and we think that Nir Bitton should be given a go in the team as he was impressive before injuries brought him down. Hatem Abd Elhamed is expected to keep his place at right-back. Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo has improved in the last month or so, and he should start at left-back once again.
Midfield
Scott Brown will likely start in the middle once again. Callum McGregor should partner him in central areas. The Scotsman will look to get on the ball and affect play on the attacking front. Christie will be a big miss for Lennon, but that will give Tom Rogic a chance to start, and he is expected to play as the attacking midfielder.
Mohamed Elyounoussi will likely begin over Scott Sinclair again on the left flank. James Forrest has blown hot and cold so far this season, but he should keep his place on the right.
Attack
Odsonne Edouard should lead the line for the Bhoys in this crucial clash.
