The Athletic’s James Pearce has revealed on Twitter that Liverpool full-back Andrew Robertson was quizzed on whether he will be available for Tottenham Hotspur’s visit of Anfield this weekend to which the Reds defender replied, ‘All good.’
It is believed that the Scottish left-back will recover in time to start in the Premier League encounter versus Spurs on Sunday after he only suffered a minor knock in his team’s emphatic 4-1 win over Genk in the UEFA Champions League last night (via the Metro). Robertson looked a bit jaded during the contest and had to be substituted in the second half.
Maybe the pressure of playing for the Merseyside giants week in week out is taking its toll on the player. Hence, Jurgen Klopp will be wise to give him some rest in the coming weeks so that he has enough time to fuel his engine and come back stronger than ever.
Roberton’s Fabulous Start To The 2018-19 Season
The Scotland international has made an impressive start to this campaign and has already put in some magnificent displays for the Reds thus far. Robertson has played in 14 matches for the European champions this term, scoring one goal while creating three assists in all competitions. His incredible contributions have helped Liverpool maintain the best defensive record in the division after they allowed just seven goals in nine league matches this season.
The former Queen’s Park talent has appeared in 33 international matches for Scotland and has registered three goals in the process.
What Are The Scottish Rising Star’s Best Attributes?
Robertson is currently amongst the best left-backs in world football after he helped Liverpool win the UEFA Champions League last season. He is not shy of working hard for his team at both ends of the pitch. The Scottish defender is a tireless runner with the ball at his feet and can complete some lung-bursting dribbles down the left flank. His delivery from the wide areas has also improved a lot over the past couple of seasons.
Robertson Likely To Be Fit To Face Tottenham: Huge Boost For Klopp?
However, the ex-Hull City full-back needs to add more goals to his game in the final third. Having Robertson available for the home game against Spurs will be a massive boost for the Reds and their chances of securing all three points this weekend.
Neither James Milner nor Joe Gomez has what it takes to match the Scotland skipper’s attacking potential. Even though both players are good enough to fill in during Robertson’s absence defensively, they are simply not the same offensive threat going forward.
