According to recent report by Spanish news outlet El Desmarque, Premier League giants Arsenal are reported to have sent forward a bid in the region of £26m to try and make Spanish midfielder Dani Ceballos’ loan deal from Real Madrid, a permanent one.
Unai Emery is said to be extremely keen on keeping the playmaker at the Emirates Stadium in the long-term, as he adds a degree of creativity that has been lacking in the Arsenal side ever since Mesut Ozil was dropped. It has also been suggested that the Spaniard met with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez over the international break to discuss his future plans.
How Did Dani Ceballos Make A Name For Himself?
Born in the Spanish town of Utrera, the 23-year-old first broke through the ranks at the Real Betis academy. Although he spent most of his youth career playing for local club Utrera and then Sevilla, it was at Betis that he was identified as a future star. After spending what was arguably his formative years at Real Betis, it was in 2017 that he was scouted and signed by Los Blancos. Very much a playmaker who sits in the middle of the park and controls the pace of the game, the Spaniard has never been the most prolific goalscorer.
His five years at Betis yielded a whopping 105 first-team appearances, but he only managed seven goals and nine assists during this time. After his move to Real Madrid, he often found himself on the bench, thanks to the sheer depth that the Galacticos have within the squad.
He played a total of 56 times for the men in white, with a lot of those appearances coming off the bench. He only ever scored five times for Los Blancos, before he made his loan switch away from the Santiago Bernabeu to join Arsenal.
What Has Dani Ceballos Offered On The Pitch So Far?
Since making the loan switch across the English Channel over the summer, Ceballos has undoubtedly impressed in an Arsenal shirt. He has provided the Gunners with an added rigidity in the middle of the park while defending, and also a much more creative outlet going forward.
Able to dictate the pace and intensity of the game with his good work in midfield, Emery has depended on the Spaniard to keep things within his side flowing. Despite his young age, he has shown, time and again, that he is more than capable of excelling in the Premier League if given the right kind of opportunities.
Why Arsenal Should Ensure They Sign Dani Ceballos Permanently
The Gunners’ struggles to replace Mesut Ozil have been going on for a while now, especially considering how apparent his decline has been for everyone. They struggled all through last season without a creative presence in the middle of the park, and although the signing of Denis Suarez was made to address this very issue, his unexpected injury meant that things took a turn for the worse.
From whatever we’ve seen so far this campaign, Ceballos has all the makings of a proper Premier League footballer. If the Gunners can tie him down permanently at the end of the current campaign, then Unai Emery should consider himself extremely fortunate.
