According to a recent report by the Daily Express, Manchester United are ready to step up their pursuit of Red Bull Leipzig centre-forward Timo Werner. However, the same source has also revealed that the Bundesliga side are not willing to let go of their prized asset in January so the Red Devils will have to wait until the end of this campaign if they intend to sign the German striker.
Werner’s Majestic Record At The Red Bull Arena Leipzig
The 23-year-old has gradually transformed himself into a prolific goal-scorer in the German top-flight since his career-defining move from Stuttgart in the summer of 2016. The German sensation has gone on to make a total of 125 appearances for Leipzig, netting 69 goals while creating 28 assists on all fronts.
Werner has also made a marvellous start to this campaign after putting in a few match-winning displays for Julian Nagelsmann’s team thus far. The Stuttgart-born talent has scored eight goals and grabbed one assist in 11 matches for the Bundesliga outfit across all competitions.
The European frontman has also represented the German national side in 28 international matches and has found the back of the net on 11 occasions for his nation so far.
What Will The German Rising Star Bring To The Theatre Of Dreams?
Werner is a natural finisher inside the opposition penalty area as he often finds the finishing touch in the final third. He is an exceptional goal-getter who is remarkably consistent at the highest level. The German international is very quick and often uses his electric pace to make some penetrative runs behind the opposition backline. However, he needs to work on his link-up play with others around him if he wants to be a success story in the top tier of England someday.
Is Werner The Right Choice For The Mancunian Outfit?
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer didn’t manage to replace Romelu Lukaku earlier this summer so he will be desperate to recruit a proven goal-getter to ease his attacking concerns up top. Both Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial failed to be consistent this season with the latter having a poor run with injuries. Mason Greenwood is still not prepared to feature regularly for Man United.
Therefore, a striker of Werner’s attacking prowess will be the perfect choice for the Red Devils even if they have to wait until next summer to get him.
