In a recent interview with Bild (via the Liverpool Echo), Bayer 04 Leverkusen boss Peter Bosz revealed that he would be powerless to stop Kai Havertz from parting ways with the club if the player’s heart was set on a move elsewhere. Bosz conceded that he does not have enough leverage to stop the German prospect from leaving when he said (via the Liverpool Echo),
“Of course I would like to keep him, just as I would have liked to keep Julian Brandt, for example.
“Kai is only 20 and still has room for improvement. I can help him there.
“But it is like this, at the end the player himself must feel when he is ready for the next step.
“Nobody can decide that for him.”
The Merseyside giants are not the only ones vying for Havertz’s signature as they will face stiff competition from Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid in pursuit of the German international (via the Liverpool Echo).
The Majestic Rise Of Kai Havertz In The German Top-Flight
Havertz joined the Leverkusen academy at an early age before fighting his way up their youth set-up and going on to break out as a first-team starter back in 2016. He became the club’s youngest debutant in the Bundesliga. There were early signs of his incredible potential, but it took some time for him to secure a regular starting berth at the BayArena.
The German rising star has made an impressive start to this Bundesliga campaign after he put in a few match-winning displays for Bosz’s side before the international break. The 20-year-old has featured in ten matches for the German outfit this term, netting three goals while creating one assist on all fronts. The Aachen-born talent has also secured seven international caps for the German national side while registering one goal for his country thus far.
What Are The German Playmaker’s Best Attributes?
Havertz has electric pace, which allows him to make some well-timed runs towards the opposition penalty box. He takes up some dangerous positions in the final third and has the vision to pick out a killer pass when the pressure is on him. However, what makes Havertz such a highly sought-after talent is his ability to dribble with the ball and cause all sorts of problems for the opposition defenders.
The Reds can benefit from recruiting a talented playmaker like Havertz as he fits into Jurgen Klopp’s style of play quite well. The Liverpool midfield currently lacks a bit of creativity and youthfulness which the German prospect can solve if Klopp can find a way to bring him to Anfield next summer.
What Should Be Klopp’s Play?
Havertz is already a good player, but he could become one of the best players of his generation if Klopp can provide him with a nurturing environment at Merseyside. Furthermore, the Bundesliga starlet will also be able to learn more if he has better players around him. Thus, Klopp should try and grind out a deal for Havertz at the end of this campaign when he could look to replace the likes of Adam Lallana and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as they are still on the fringes of his squad.
