According to Eldesmarque, as cited by Calciomercato, Real Madrid have identified Jadon Sancho as a prime target. The Borussia Dortmund star has been listed as one of three candidates the Spanish giants could target as they look to bolster their attacking department next summer. Kylian Mbappe and Kai Havertz are also included in that list.
What can Sancho bring to the table?
Sancho has become one of Europe’s brightest talents after a sensational 2018/19 campaign that saw him getting involved in more goals than Marco Reus. His contributions in the final third helped Borussia Dortmund put up a strong challenge to Bayern Munich for the Bundesliga title.
A right-winger by trade, Sancho is primarily known for his pace and trickery. He is blessed with quick feet that allows him to drift past opposing defenders, which is often useful when employing a possession-based game as Dortmund do. Besides, it also makes him a scourge for the defenders on the counter as he can quickly shift from defence to attack using his pace.
Furthermore, Sancho likes to get to the byline and provide crosses into the box. But at the same time, he is also capable of exchanging quick passes and play little one-twos in order to breach the opposition lines. The youngster notably built a formidable combination with Reus and Paco Alcacer during his time at Dortmund.
Where does Sancho fit in at Real Madrid?
Zinedine Zidane has offered Gareth Bale a lot of opportunities in this new season despite the apparent bad blood between the two individuals. But, it won’t be a surprise if the ex-Spurs star leaves the Bernabeu next summer. And that’s where Sancho could fit in.
The England international could be an ideal replacement for Bale. Although he may not possess the physical attributes of the Welshman, his quick feet and box of trickery could provide the x-factor for Madrid going forward.
Not to mention, Sancho has a knack for scoring goals as well, which only bodes well for Zidane. And with technically astute players like Isco, Eden Hazard and Karim Benzema around him, the Dortmund winger is destined to shine at the Spanish capital.
Hence, Real Madrid should definitely consider splashing the big bucks on Sancho next summer if they are to complete their resurgence in Europe next season.
