In a recent interview ahead of Wales’ UEFA Euro 2020 qualifier against Slovakia (via the Independent), Real Madrid speedster Gareth Bale shed some light on his situation at the Spanish capital and said, “You play with a lot of emotion, and anger comes into it, but I’m just trying to play football, enjoy it as much as I can and give my best.
“Whenever I step onto the pitch I give 100% to help the team … I love meeting up with Wales. I haven’t got anything to clear my mind about.”
Bale’s Frustrations In Spanish Football
Bale has fallen out of favour at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium despite scoring two goals and grabbing two assists in seven matches for Los Blancos this season. Injuries have plagued his spell with the Galacticos since he made the big move from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2013.
The 30-year-old is also vastly experienced at the international level, having secured 79 caps for Wales while registering 32 goals for his country so far. He can still be a game-changer for his side when he is playing with confidence on the field.
However, AS (via Sport) has recently claimed that the Cardiff-born talent wants to part ways with the La Liga giants at the end of this campaign. Therefore, his long-term future in Madrid is quite uncertain at the moment.
What Are The Welsh Attacker’s Strengths And Weaknesses?
Bale is one of the fastest players in European football. He can beat his marker off the dribble and can whip in some dangerous balls into the opposition box. Furthermore, he is also a potent goal threat from wide areas and can score goals consistently at the highest level. However, the jury is still out on whether Bale will be able to overcome his recent issues with injuries.
Is It Time For The Galacticos To Let Bale Leave?
There is no denying that the Wales international will be difficult to replace, but Zidane should consider letting him leave nonetheless. If the Galacticos are planning to rebuild their side for the future, then they would be required to bring in some fresh faces and let go of the old guards.
For now, the best thing for both the club and the player would be to come to a compromise so that Bale can leave when the season gets over next summer.
