According to a recent report by Don Balon, Real Madrid are locked in negotiations with AFC Ajax to discuss the possibility of signing Donny van de Beek and it is believed that talks are at an advanced stage between the two clubs. Los Blancos are looking to recruit the Dutch midfielder for a fee around €70m at the end of this campaign (via Don Balon).
Van de Beek’s Fabulous Spell In Dutch Football
Van de Beek enjoyed a sensational campaign with Ajax last season when he managed to defy the odds and helped his team progress to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League where they eventually ended up losing to Tottenham Hotspur over two legs.
The 22-year-old has made a decent start to this campaign after putting in some memorable displays for the Amsterdam giants in the Dutch Eredivisie. The Nijkerkerveen-born talent has featured in 12 matches for Ajax this term, scoring three goals while creating six assists in all competitions.
Van de Beek has also made five international appearances for the Netherlands national side but is yet to open his goal-scoring account for his homeland.
What Will The Eredivisie Prospect Bring To The Santiago Bernabeu Stadium?
Van de Beek has earned his manager’s trust in the previous campaign, so he gets the license to go forward while operating as a free-flowing box to box midfielder. The Eredivisie midfield ace can make some dangerous runs in the opposition half, which creates space for his teammates. The Dutch rising star has already proven that he can be a consistent goal-scorer or an assist-maker for Erik ten Hag’s side. However, the jury is still out on whether he can replicate similar kind of numbers at an elite club like Real Madrid where the expectations will be sky-high from the club’s supporters.
Zinedine Zidane is in dire need of a prolific goal-getter from midfield so van de Beek will fit in well at the Spanish capital. He will not only add more goals and creativity to Zidane’s midfield but will also improve the overall quality of the Galacticos first-team.
At 22, the Dutch talent is currently playing some of the best football of his career, so Los Blancos will do well to lure him away from the Johan Cruijff ArenA next summer.
