According to a recent report by AS (via the Daily Mirror), AFC Ajax has gotten rid of Hakim Ziyech’s release clause amid interest from Arsenal and Liverpool. The same source has mentioned that the Amsterdam giants have wasted no time in deciding to remove the Morrocan playmaker’s €30m release clause.
Ziyech’s Stellar Rise For Both Club And Country
This recent development will be a bitter pill to swallow for the Reds and their chances of landing the Dutch Eredivisie sensation in the coming years. The 26-year-old had one of the best years of his playing career last season when he helped Ajax reach the UEFA Champions League semi-finals where they were eventually knocked out by Tottenham Hotspur. However, Ziyech was sensational in both legs of the tie against Spurs.
The Morroco international has continued to impress with his performances this season, scoring five goals while providing seven assists in 14 appearances for Erik ten Hag’s side across all competitions. He has also got a terrific goalscoring record for Morroco, having netted 12 goals in 23 international matches for his homeland thus far.

Ziyech has decent pace in his locker and can make some penetrative runs from midfield. He primarily operates in the number 10 position but is quite comfortable playing down the right flank. The Dronten-born talent is also a potent goal-scorer for his side, but the jury is still out on whether Ziyech will be able to handle the physicality and high intensity of Premier League football.

Now that the Ajax star’s €30m release clause is a thing of the past, Klopp will need to break the bank to recruit a player of Ziyech’s attacking prowess. However, the Morrocan attacker could turn out to be well worth the money if he can continue scoring and creating goals for fun at the Dutch capital.
Otherwise, the Reds would be better of looking at other alternatives if they don’t fancy signing Ziyech for an inflated fee.
