Following an emphatic 4-0 win over Standard Liege on Thursday in the Europe League, Arsenal will look to return to winning ways in the Premier League as they host Bournemouth tomorrow afternoon.
The Gunners’ fans will surely be excited after yet another positive result in the Europa League, coupled with the fact that almost everyone in the team is starting to shine. In this article, we will talk about three burning questions Arsenal fans will have, ahead of their club’s clash against the Cherries.
Will Bellerin and Tierney?
Hector Bellerin and Kieran Tierney’s return to full fitness has got the Arsenal fans buzzing, especially after their excellent displays against Nottingham Forest. And this midweek, the duo once again shined in the Europa League clash against Standard Liege.
Both the players have looked incredibly effective and are fully capable of solving Arsenal’s fullback problems. And after their performances in Cup games, fans will be ecstatic to see the duo start a Premier League game tomorrow.
But, Sunday’s clash against Bournemouth may come a little too early for the defensive duo. Both the players are returning from a long-term injury absence, and manager Unai Emery is unlikely to risk them this weekend, paving the way for Calum Chambers and Sead Kolasinac to return to the starting lineup.
Who will appear as a number ten?
Emery will face a selection dilemma in midfield, with Dani Ceballos and Mesut Ozil both being an option in the attacking midfield role.
Ceballos featured as a central midfielder against Standard Liege in midweek. But, drafting him as a number ten would force Emery to either deploy a 4-2-3-1 setup or start with Lucas Torreira in the three-man midfield setup of a 4-3-1-2.
Ozil, on the other hand, could easily fit into the number ten role, just behind Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Nicolas Pepe in a 4-3-1-2. Emery, however, did criticise the German in midweek, meaning Ceballos is the likely option.
Will Martinelli make an appearance?
Gabriel Martinelli has become a darling of the Arsenal fan base after his incredible performances against Nottingham Forest and Standard Liege. Especially against the latter, the Argentine was absolutely devastating.
The youngsters made a host of incisive runs inside the box and his ability to make direct runs into the game caused a lot of trouble for the Belgian outfit.
It’s unlikely Martinelli will start in attack ahead of Pepe and Aubameyang. But, there is a chance he could make a substitute appearance against Bournemouth tomorrow.
