Liverpool will clash heads with Leicester City at Anfield on Saturday afternoon hoping to continue their 100% winning start to this Premier League campaign. The Reds have emerged victorious in all seven of their league matches this season but the Foxes are expected to be a tough test for the European champions especially after a gruelling midweek game against RB Salzburg.
Jurgen Klopp’s men will come into the contest at the back of 4-3 win over the Austrian champions in the UEFA Champions League. The Merseyside club will likely opt for a 4-3-3 formation but will be sweating on the fitness of Joel Matip who has been excellent at the back during this campaign.
4-3-3 Liverpool Predicted Lineup To Face Leicester City
Defence
Adrian will continue to feature as Klopp’s first-choice keeper as Alisson Becker recovers from his calf injury. The Spanish keeper shipped in three goals against RB Salzburg in midweek so he will be desperate to keep a clean sheet against the Foxes this weekend.
Joel Matip is a major doubt and will be in a race against time to be fit for this encounter. If the Cameroonian centre-back can pass a late fitness test, then he should feature alongside Virgil Van Dijk at the heart of the Liverpool defence.
Trent Alexander-Arnold will operate as the right-back as he focusses on whipping in some dangerous crosses from the wide areas. Andrew Robertson will once again hope to put in a tireless shift from the left-back position after his goal-scoring heroics against Salzburg in midweek.
If Matip misses out, then Joe Gomez could fill in as a centre-back. Otherwise, we can expect him to be a part of Klopp’s bench.
Midfield
The Reds midfield might be comprised of Georginio Wijnaldum, Fabinho and James Milner as Klopp looks to freshen up his options at the centre of the park. The hard-working trio will look to press the Leicester players high up the pitch and create some decent goal-scoring chances for the fabulous frontline of Liverpool.
Naby Keita and Jordan Henderson will likely start on the Reds bench but might get a chance to make an impact if needed.
Attack
Klopp’s front three picks themselves so the talented trio of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah should start against Leicester barring any late injuries. Divock Origi will once again look to impress if Klopp calls upon his services from the bench on Saturday.
