Chelsea will travel to France to clash heads with LOSC Lille at the Stade Pierre Mauroy on Wednesday night hoping to pick up their first points of this UEFA Champions League campaign. The Pensioners come into this encounter at the back of a 2-0 home win versus Brighton and Hove Albion last weekend. Frank Lampard will be desperate to see his side succeed after they suffered a disappointing 1-0 loss against Valencia earlier this month.
The West London giants could opt for a 3-4-2-1 formation with Mateo Kovacic set for a start in this match after being rested in the Premier League on Saturday.
3-4-2-1 Chelsea Predicted Lineup To Face LOSC Lille
Defence
Kepa Arrizabalaga will keep his place in goal for the Pensioners after he managed to secure a clean sheet against the Seagulls on Saturday. Lampard might opt for a back three of Andreas Christensen, Kurt Zouma and Fikayo Tomori for this European encounter away in France.
Zouma is a slight doubt and will be in a race against time to be fit for this clash. Chelsea opted to play three at the back against Valencia in the opening gameweek of this UEFA Champions League. However, Lampard’s gamble backfired as the Londoners lost 1-0 at home, which has put in a lot of pressure on the Pensioners to secure a positive result from Lille.
Midfield
Both Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic might lineup as the anchormen in midfield as they look to dictate play in midfield and create chances going forward. Cesar Azpilicueta will operate on the right side as the wing-back while Marcos Alonso will focus on linking up with Mount down the left flank.
N’Golo Kante will be in a late fitness test to find out whether or not he can take part in this game against the Ligue 1 giants. Ross Barkley might have to be content with a place on Lampard’s bench.
Attack
Mason Mount and Willian are expected to play behind Tammy Abraham who will spearhead the Chelsea attack up top. All three attackers put in an impressive display versus Brighton last weekend which will give them some confidence heading into this midweek clash in the Champions League.
Michy Batshuayi and Christian Pulisic will have to settle for a place on Lampard’s bench but could get a chance to feature in this contest if required.
