Leicester City will entertain Newcastle United at the King Power Stadium on Sunday hoping to build on their 4-0 victory over Luton Town in the EFL Cup. The Foxes have made an excellent start to this campaign, so this contest versus the Magpies could be an ideal opportunity for them to make a real statement on the pitch.
Brendan Rodgers will likely opt for a 4-1-4-1 formation and could be without the services of James Maddison after he picked up a knock against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.
4-1-4-1 Leicester City Predicted Lineup To Face Newcastle United
Defence
Kasper Schmeichel will lineup in between the sticks for the East Midlands side after being rested during his team’s 4-0 win away at Luton Town in midweek. The defensive pair of Çağlar Söyüncü and Jonny Evans will be deployed at the centre of the Foxes backline. Both centre-backs have worked well together in recent weeks and will be quietly confident about their chances of keeping the Newcastle attackers at bay this weekend.
Ricardo Pereira is expected to feature in the right-back position while Ben Chilwell will look to use his pace on the other side as the left-back. The Leicester backline will have their hands full as they would have to cope with the threats of Joelinton, Christian Atsu and Miguel Almiron on the counter.
Midfield
Wilfred Ndidi will lineup as the anchorman in midfield while Hamza Choudhury and Youri Tielemans try to orchestrate some decent goal-scoring opportunities in the Magpies half. Ayoze Perez is expected to start on the right flank while Harvey Barnes could feature as the left-winger.
James Maddison is a major doubt for this game and is unlikely to recover in time to play a part in this match at the King Power Stadium. Both Dennis Praet and Marc Albrighton will have to be content with a place on Rodgers’ bench but might get a chance to feature in this clash if needed.
Attack
Jamie Vardy was rested in midweek so he should be fresh and available for selection against Steve Bruce’s men this weekend. The English striker will lead the charge for the Foxes after scoring three goals and grabbing one assist in seven matches so far this season.
