Manchester United are reportedly monitoring the situation of Real Madrid defender Pepe. The Portuguese international is on his last year of the contract and hasn’t been offered a new contract by the club.
The 33-year old who won the EURO 2016 with Portugal earlier said that he wants to end his career at Madrid. Real have been negotiating with his representatives and are very willing to give a one-year extension but the defender wants a two-year deal.
Jose Mourinho could be interested in the defender with whom he had worked when he was in the charge of The Los Blancos.
Usually known for his hard and rough tackles but in this ongoing season, he hasn’t received a card yet which is a big surprise. His experience would be a massive addition to United who have stumbled defensively.
United recently lost Antonio Valencia, Eric Bailly and Chris Smalling due to injuries and Pepe’s addition could be a massive boost for The Red Devils who are having a not so good season.
Pepe is free to sign a pre-contract with any club in January. If Madrid won’t be able to give him a new contract the defender might consider a move to one of these clubs.
