It is no secret that Christian Eriksen is facing an uncertain future at Tottenham Hotspur. The playmaker was hugely linked with a move away from north London in the summer, but a move didn’t materialise. However, with his contract expiring at the end of the campaign, it would perhaps be wiser for Spurs to already search for potential replacements.

Kai Havertz
From being one of the best talents in Germany to becoming one of the best playmakers in Europe, Kai Havertz’s rise to prominence has been a swift one. The Bayer Leverkusen talent scored as many as 17 league goals last season and has already netted two goals in four matches so far this term.
Unlike any conventional number ten, Havertz is known for his quick link-up play and smart movements rather than his ability to create a scoring opportunity for the others. It is rather evident if we look at his career statistics. The German international is sure to create a deadly combination with Son Heung Min and Harry Kane, making Tottenham one of the most feared sides in the Premier League.
However, at the age of just 20, Havertz is likely to cost a fortune and could actually be the most expensive player on this list.
Bruno Fernandes
It was surprising to see Bruno Fernandes not moving to a big club this summer, especially with a host of top clubs, including Real Madrid interested in his services. Spurs were also among the clubs keen on the services of the Sporting CP star.
Nonetheless, Fernandes has been performing at the same level this season, having been involved in six goals in four league games so far. And given the attention he has received from big clubs this summer, it won’t be a surprise to see the Portuguese international leaving Sporting in January.
Tottenham, in that regard, could take a gamble by selling Eriksen in January and settling for Fernandes. The 25-year-old has already shown that he is capable of playing at a higher level of football and should be an excellent replacement for the Dane.
Isco
Isco is by far the most experienced and well-established player on this list. The 27-year-old is widely considered as one of the most important players for Real Madrid. But, following the arrival of Eden Hazard as well as the return of James Rodriguez, the Spaniard could find it challenging to get regular game-time this season.
He has, in fact, mustered only 83 minutes of league football so far. He also had to play in an unfavoured left-wing role. Spurs, to that end, could be an ideal destination if Isco is to revive his career.
Much like Son, the Real Madrid star is a smart operator in the final third and is known for his nimble footwork and dribbling prowess. Therefore, he could be a tailor-made fit in Spurs’ attacking setup, though the Lilywhites will likely have to wait till next summer to attain any chance of signing the Spanish international.
