According to a recent report by the Daily Express, Newcastle United are eyeing a move to secure the services of Jarrod Bowen from Hull City when the transfer window reopens in January. The same source has also stated that the Magpies will face stiff competition from Southampton in pursuit of the English wide player during the winter transfer period.
Bowen’s Remarkable Spell At The KCOM Stadium
The 22-year-old has made a terrific start to this campaign after putting in some memorable displays before the international break. The English talent has scored four goals and created one assist in seven appearances for the Tigers this season.
Bowen joined Hereford United at an early age before making a career-defining switch to Hull City in the summer of 2014. He made his way up the club’s youth ranks before finally getting a taste of senior football back in 2016.
The Leominster-born prospect has incredible potential to become a future star in the Premier League as long as he can continue developing his game with each year. The Hull youngster is also versatile enough to play anywhere across the frontline. He primarily operates as a right-winger but is equally comfortable filling in on the left or play as a secondary forward up top.
What Will The English Wonderkid Bring To Tyneside?
Bowen is moderately paced but can complete some dangerous dribbles with the ball down the wide areas. He is a potent goal-threat from long range and is a consistent goal-scorer in the EFL Championship. However, the jury is still out on whether he can continue performing at such a high level against the big boys of the Premier League.
Bowen will be a perfect fit for Steve Bruce’s brand of football at St. James’ Park due to his strong work ethic and prolific nature in front of the opposing goal. He has the potential to add another dimension to the Magpies attack.
Is Bowen The Right Choice For Bruce’s Team?
Newcastle are in dire need of more natural width going forward with Miguel Almiron, Allan Saint-Maximin and Christian Atsu the only natural wide players in Bruce’s squad. Therefore, Bowen will be an excellent fit for the Tyneside giants as he has the skillset to change their fortunes around for the better in the second half of this campaign.
