In a recent interview with the Daily Mirror, Leicester City midfielder James Maddison revealed his desire to play at the top level and said, ‘I want to play at the highest level my ability will allow me to.
‘I like to think I’ve my head screwed on with the transfers I’ve made. I’ve played League One, in Scotland, the Championship and the Premier League. I worked my way up.’
It seems like Maddison has a lot of confidence in his ability to succeed at the highest level amid reports linking him with a move to Manchester United earlier this summer. The Coventry-born prospect has enjoyed a meteoric rise in English football and has been playing the best football of his career at the King Power Stadium since his move from Norwich City last summer.
Maddison’s Marvellous Spell At The West Midlands
The 22-year-old has scored eight goals and provided nine assists in 43 matches for the Foxes thus far across all competitions. He has continued to impress in this campaign as well after he netted one goal and created two assists in five appearances for Brendan Rodgers’ side on all fronts.
Maddison is yet to make his debut for Gareth Southgate’s England national side but could be in line to feature for the Three Lions in the coming years. The English playmaker is an exceptional talent who has the potential to become a Premier League legend if he can continue improving each year.
What Will The English Rising Star Bring To Old Trafford?
Maddison is one of the most creative midfielders in English football as he can orchestrate chances out of nothing. He remains calm under pressure and can play a killer pass in the final third. The former Coventry City sensation is also a potent goal-threat from long range as he can strike the ball with power and precision.
The Red Devils are crying out for a player of Maddison’s skill set to line up as part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s midfield alongside the likes of Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay. Both Pogba and McTominay have struggled to create too many goal-scoring opportunities in the opposition half this season. Hence, Maddison could be the man who can come in and add some much-needed creativity to the Red Devils midfield.
Should Ole Move In For Maddison In January?
The English talent will undeniably help the Mancunian outfit compete for major trophies once again if Solskjaer can find a way to land him during the winter transfer window. Man United will be foolish not to make a move in January when they know that Maddison’s heart is set on a switch to play ‘at the highest level’.
