The same source has also stated that the Reds will be keeping tabs on the European rising star’s performances in the Turkish Super Lig during this season ahead of a potential move next summer.

Cakir opted to seal a move to Trabzonspor as a teenager from Yamanspor in the summer transfer period of 2011. He has spent his entire football career playing in his homeland while fighting his way up Trabzonspor’s youth system. The Antalya born shot-stopper has featured in a total of 41 matches for the Turkish outfit, shipping in 51 goals while securing nine clean sheets on all fronts. He has also played for Turkey at various youth levels before going on to earn one international cap for his nation’s senior team.
The European talent played some of his best football for Trabzonspor last season when he put in some eye-catching displays to help his club achieve a fourth-place finish in the top tier of Turkish football. However, Cakir has made a shaky start to this campaign after he conceded nine goals in seven matches without keeping a clean sheet thus far.
