Everton have been prepping up to challenge the top six for quite some time now, but they have been falling short year after year. However, there is a lot more optimism around them this season as Marco Silva is already in his second season at the club. He has got a few transfer windows where he has got a chance to rebuild his side.
The Merseyside club punched above their weight to land someone like Moise Kean this summer. Even last season, they brought in the likes of Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes from Barcelona. They have made a mediocre start to the campaign after winning twice in the first four games. However, the loss against Aston Villa would have bugged them as they were playing a newly promoted side.
Sherwood advises Everton to sign this player
Former Premier League winner Tim Sherwood on Sky Sports recently said that the Toffees should look to sign Bournemouth’s Ryan Fraser in the future. The former Blackburn player said (Liverpool Echo), ”The next move for him, and no disrespect to Bournemouth is one just underneath [the top six]. Like a Leicester or an Everton. And then he’s still young enough to make that next step.”
Does Everton need someone like Fraser?
The Toffees spent the big bucks to land Arsenal winger Alex Iwobi this summer. Iwobi is still getting used to his new team so the jury is still out on whether he would be able to succeed at Goodison Park or not. Apart from that, the club has Richarlison, Bernard and Theo Walcott who can play in the wide positions.
Ryan Fraser is a left-winger, and we think that he can be a decent addition to Everton’s squad. The Scotsman had a fruitful campaign in the previous term as he managed to register seven goals and 14 assists in 38 Premier League appearances. The winger is known for his pace and acceleration, and he can link up play well on the flanks.
The club tried to sign Wilfried Zaha this summer and had put in a bid of £70m for him. Once they failed to land him, they had to settle for Iwobi. Walcott is past his prime, and we think that Fraser will be a quality addition on the flanks even though Marco Silva has the right amount of wide players in his roster at the moment.
The winger is in the final year of his contract so he might be available on a free transfer if the Cherries cannot get him to sign a new deal. In that case, one can expect plenty of competition for his signature, but Silva should definitely heed Sherwood’s advice and go after the Scotsman in the future.
