Zinedine Zidane & Co. have dropped points yet again this season following their 2-2 draw against Villarreal at the Estadio de la Cerámica.
Los Blancos failed to take the lead even once in the evening and were made to work hard for a draw. Gareth Bale scored both of Real Madrid’s goals before picking up a red card in the dying moments of the game.
Gerard Moreno scored the first goal for the Yellow Submarines in the 12th minute of the game. Moi Gomez was the other goal scorer for Villareal on the night. The home side managed to hold Real Madrid to a draw despite chasing shadows for large parts of the game.
Zidane experimented with a 4-2-4 formation, and it is safe to say that things did not go according to plan. Real Madrid seemed to be lacking the winning mentality throughout the fixture. Real Madrid now trail table-toppers, Atletico Madrid by five points.

Thibaut Courtois – 6/10
Courtois was unable to hold onto the clean sheet for the third time on the bounce. The player could have done better for the second goal Real conceded.
Dani Carvajal – 7/10
A good-spirited performance from the Spanish right-back.
Raphael Varane – 6/10
In a game determined in seconds, Varane was a minute late to react to the movement that led to the second goal.
Sergio Ramos – 7/10
Ramos had a rock-solid night at the Ceramic Stadium.
Ferland Mendy – 8/10
What a fantastic debut for the French defender! Marcelo would a bit tensed after this performance against Villarreal.
Toni Kroos – 7/10
A poised performance from Toni Kroos. Showed his precision throughout the game.
Casemiro – 8/10
Casemiro toiled hard up and down the pitch and made life difficult for the Villarreal team.
Lucas Vasquez – 7/10
Lucas Vasquez showed an impressive work rate and had a significant impact on the game.

Karim Benzema – 7/10
The striker failed to get onto the scoresheet for the fourth time in a row. Benzema had a decent night overall.
Gareth Bale – 9/10
Two goals and a red card! Bale got Los Blancos on level terms twice before picking up two yellow cards in the space of a minute or so.
