Celtic moved 10 points clear of Aberdeen at the top of the Premiership table with a 0-1 win over the Dons at Pittodrie. With 28 points from 10 games, Rodgers still remains unbeaten in the Premiership with the Bhoys and it looks like Celtic will be cruising to the title without much challenge this season. It was Aberdeen who managed to challenge Celtic for the title to some extent in the past two seasons but the Bhoys look too good to be beaten this season and the credit goes to none but Rodgers.
Aberdeen started the game in front of their home fans on a positive note. Jonny Hayes made a few surging runs into the Celtic territory causing the Hoops some discomfort. The Dons were pretty impressive in the first 20 minutes of the game but Celtic took control after that. Tom Rogic scored with a sensational volley with his left foot from outside of the box after controlling a loose ball with his right foot.
Celtic got numerous chances of scoring more goals past Aberdeen but their keeper Joe Lewis was on the top of his game against Celtic and parried everything that came his way. However, Celtic got what they wanted that is all three points which puts them much ahead of their rivals on the table.
Here are the player ratings for Celtic from the game-
Craig Gordon: 6.5/10
The Scot’s distribution was poor in the first half but he improved in the second half. Made a spectacular save in the final minute or else Celtic would have lost two points.
Mikael Lustig: 7.5/10
The Swede was a nuisance attacking wise and also defended his flank really well. The Rogic goal came from his cross which Aberdeen failed to clear to safety. Made a few more deadly deliveries into the box.
Erik Sviatchenko: 7/10
Was booked very early in the game but maintained his cool after that. His reading of the game was brilliant. Made a number of solid tackles and interceptions. Dealt with the aerial presence of Rooney really well.
Jozo Simunovic: 7.5/10
Excellent composure from the young Croat. Intercepted dangers and hardly had to do the dirty work.
Emilio Izaguirre: 4.5/10
A horrendous performance from the Honduran. Lost the ball too many times. Hardly burst forward while his defending was also average.
Scott Brown: 7.5/10
Absolutely bossed the midfield area. Covered every blade of grass and passed really well.
Stuart Armstrong: 7.5/10
His overall display was brilliant. Made good runs into the box and passed well. However, he should have scored on at least one of the opportunities that came his way.
James Forrest: 6/10
Was impressive in the first half but was dismal in the second. Poor passing and crossing let him down time and time again.
Tom Rogic: 8/10
Scored a stunner. Was a nuisance throughout the game with his movement and passing. Should have added to his tally, though.
Scott Sinclair: 7/10
Came so close to a goal but Joe Lewis somehow kept it out. Was impressive throughout and kept the left side ticking despite Izaguirre offering very little attacking wise.
Moussa Dembele: 6.5/10
Not many opportunities came his way but his link–up play was impressive.
Substitutes
Nir Bitton: 4/10
Came on to add steel in midfield to help Celtic protect the lead but Aberdeen were more dangerous after he came on.
