Everton will entertain Wolverhampton Wanderers at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon hoping to bounce back from their 2-0 defeat at the hands of Aston Villa last week. The Toffees went on to secure a 4-2 win over Lincoln City on Wednesday night, but Nuno Espirito Santo’s men are expected to be a much sterner test this weekend.
Marco Silva will likely stick with his favoured 4-2-3-1 formation and bring back all of his first-teamers for this weekend’s encounter at Merseyside.
4-2-3-1 Everton Predicted Lineup To Face Wolves
Defence
Jordan Pickford will lineup in between the sticks as Everton’s number one keeper despite shipping in two goals against Aston Villa last week. The centre-back duo of Yerry Mina and Michael Keane will hope to provide enough protection for the English shot-stopper at the centre of Silva’s backline.
Seamus Coleman is expected to start at the right-back position as he looks to put in another tireless display down the right flank. Following his heroics against Lincoln City in midweek, Lucas Digne will take his place on the other side as the left-back. The Frenchman will be a lethal weapon for Everton down the left-wing as he tries to get to the by-line and whip in some dangerous crosses into the Wolves penalty box.
Midfield
Andre Gomes and Morgan Schneiderlin will play as the anchormen in midfield as they try to break up some of the Wolves attacks. The talented trio of Bernard, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Richarlison will try to link up together and cause a lot of problems for the opposition defenders.
All three of them have failed to fire on all cylinders for the Toffees this season. Hence, this home game could be an ideal opportunity for them to get some confidence before the international break. Jean-Philippe Gbamin is still out of action with a serious injury, but Tom Davies should be fit enough to start on the Everton bench.
Attack
Dominic Calvert-Lewin was on the bench against Lincoln City in midweek so he should come back into Silva’s starting XI for this game. Moise Kean will once again have to wait for his opportunity to shine on the Toffees bench.
