Everton will travel to Sincil Bank to clash heads with Lincoln City in the second round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night. The Toffees will be the favourites to secure a win versus the Imps in midweek. However, Marco Silva would be wary of his side getting complacent, so he is still expected to name a strong squad tomorrow night.
The Merseyside club might lineup in a 4-3-3 formation with both Callum Connolly and Beni Baningime likely to feature in Silva’s starting XI.
4-3-3 Everton Predicted Lineup To Face Lincoln City
Defence
Jonas Lossl is a significant doubt for this game but should still recover in time to feature in this second round clash versus Lincoln City. The centre-half duo of Mason Holgate and Callum Connolly will look to put in a commanding shift at the heart of Marco Silva’s backline. Both players are yet to make a first-team appearance for the Toffees this season so they should relish this rare chance to shine at the back when they face off against the Imps in midweek.
Djibril Sidibé will operate in the right-back position as he tries to impress on his first start for Everton. Leighton Baines might feature on the other side as the left-back which would hand Lucas Digne a well-deserved rest. The Toffees defenders will need to keep things tidy at the back if they are to come away with a victory from Sincil Bank tomorrow night.
Midfield
Silva might opt for a midfield three of Fabian Delph, Beni Baningime and Tom Davies as he looks to give his first-team players some rest in midweek. All three players will be responsible for dictating play and creating chances in the opposition half.
Delph will be in a race against time to be fit for this encounter. He will be desperate to make a comeback after sustaining a groin injury against Werder Bremen in pre-season. However, Jean-Philippe Gbamin will miss out on this trip to Lincoln as he is currently sidelined due to an injury to his right quadriceps muscle.
Forward
Alex Iwobi and Theo Walcott will look to use their pace down the wide areas and provide support for Moise Kean who might finally get a start after joining from Juventus earlier this summer. The Everton frontline needs to be productive if they are to book a place in the third round of the League Cup.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin will be available on the bench and might get a chance to make an impact on the pitch if required.
