Celtic will face their first big test in the Premiership as they will take on Hearts of Midlothian this weekend. The Bhoys are coming on the back of a commanding 2-0 win in the Europa League playoffs, and Lennon would look to continue with the good work his side has produced in the last tie.
Missing out on another year of Champions League football is a blow to the club, but it is fair to say that Celtic’s primary aim would be to continue with their domestic domination. The games are coming in quick succession, but Celtic would be glad that they didn’t need to travel as they played the Europa League tie at home in midweek and they will be again at home against the Jambos.
Team News
Hatem Abd Elhamed is a doubt as he missed the encounter against AIK. Scott Bain is going to be a major miss in goal for the Bhoys. Apart from that, most of the first-team regulars should be available for Lennon.
Celtic Predicted Lineup Vs Hearts of Midlothian
Formation (4-2-3-1)
Defence
The Hoops have gone on to sign former goalkeeper Fraser Forster on loan after Bain’s injury. However, he might have to wait to play his first game for now as Craig Gordon might be preferred in goal once again. Jozo Simunovic has had some injury issues, but he has managed to play in a few crucial games so far.
Lennon might rest him for this tie, and Nir Bitton might play in a centre back role. Summer signing Christopher Jullien has been overlooked since he was signed, but he might get his chances now. He should start at the back. Kristoffer Ajer is likely to play in a right-back role once again. Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo is expected to keep his place in the left-back position.
Midfield
Callum McGregor and Scott Brown should retain their spots in the middle of the park. Olivier Ntcham is expected to start this game after not being heavily involved against AIK. Ryan Christie might be rested for this game. Marian Shved should be in contention to start and might get the nod over James Forrest in this tie down the right. Michael Johnston has looked sharp, and he should continue on the left flank.
Attack
Odsonne Edouard is the main man for Celtic, but he might be rested in this tie in favour of Leigh Griffiths. If the scoreline is level or if Celtic are trailing, then Lennon can bring the French striker from the bench to affect the game.
