The same source has mentioned that the Pensioners are planning to discuss a potential deal which would see the English left-back return to Stamford Bridge as a coach.
It could prove to be a shrewd appointment for Chelsea boss Frank Lampard as Cole knows the London club well from his time as a player. The 38-year-old will be motivated to do well as a coach as he looks to build a career off the pitch following his retirement.
