Everton manager Ronald Koeman has said that he would love to have Wayne Rooney at Everton. Rooney moved to Manchester United in 2004 for £25m and since then has won every trophy there is to win in club football.
However, the striker has been in miserable form of late as he has scored only one goal so far in the ongoing season. Jose Mourinho left out the 31-year old for the last couple of Premier League matches. The Portuguese gaffer reportedly indicated that the forward must find another club if he really wants first team football.
Everton started the season brilliantly as they won the first four matches out of five but since then has been finding it hard of late as they are winless in their last four matches, “First of all, he’s a great player – he’s still not finished his career. I don’t know what his situation is, I need to respect his situation. That’s not my problem.
“If there is a possibility that Rooney is an option for Everton, I’d say ‘yes, please’.”
Rooney could be a solution to Everton’s goal drought who have just managed to score 13 goals in 9 matches. The England international who is just four goals short of breaking Bobby Charlton’s all-time record of 249 goals, has been attracting lots of interest from MLS with LA Galaxy is very keen to sign him.
“That’s football, that’s part of football. He is enough of an experienced player and person that he knows what can happen.
“Everyone gets periods of criticism. It’s part of the business and you need to stay calm and that’s the best thing you can do,” Koeman added.
