Arsene Wenger has confirmed that striker Lucas Perez set to miss six to eight weeks after picking up an injury against Reading in Arsenal’s recent League Cup clash.
Perez was signed from Deportivo La Coruna in this summer as a back up to Olivier Giroud but Wenger has been using Alexis Sanchez up front from the start of this season. He was tackled by Reading player Danzell Gravenberch and was seen limping out of the ground after quite a while during the EFL Cup fourth round match.
Wenger said, “We lost Perez for a while, “Hopefully he’ll recover, but I think he’ll be six to eight weeks out.”
Wenger accused the opposition player for deliberately kicking him and also added that the Referee should have sent him off, “He’s absolutely gutted because it’s an injury coming from nowhere and a stupid one. Because it was a deliberate kick.”
“It’s very frustrating, because he worked very hard to get there. And now he’s close [to a starting role].”
Perez’s injury has put the French manager in a sort of dilemma as The Gunners will have to face Tottenham Hotspur without the striker.
