Manchester United will take on Chelsea at Old Trafford this weekend hoping to make a good start to their domestic campaign. The Red Devils will come into this clash at the back of a penalty shoot-out win over AC Milan in pre-season. However, Frank Lampard’s team could prove to be a stern test for the Red Devils. Both teams are expected to compete with each other for a top 4 place at the end of this campaign.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer might opt to start with a 4-2-3-1 formation and will be tempted to hand Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and David James their competitive debuts at the Theatre of Dreams.
4-2-3-1 Manchester United Predicted Lineup To Face Chelsea
Defence
David De Gea will start in between the sticks for the Red Devils as he looks to keep a clean sheet against the Pensioners this weekend. The centre-back duo of Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire will look to command the Man United penalty box with authority and conviction. They would try to cope with the threat of Christian Pulisic and keep him quiet on Sunday.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka will make his league debut for Man United as the right-back while Luke Shaw looks to put in a dominant shift down the left flank. Solskjaer has to find a way to inspire his defenders to keep a shut-out at the back against the West London outfit on Sunday.
Midfield
Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay are expected to feature as the anchormen in midfield as they try to create a few openings for their teammates in the opposition half. The talented trio of Daniel James, Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial will play just ahead of them as part of the Red Devils attack.
Alexis Sanchez is a slight doubt for this game but might be fit on time to take his place on Solskjaer’s bench.
Attack
Marcus Rashford will lead the line for Man United upfront as he looks to make a goal-scoring start to his Premier League season. The departure of Romelu Lukaku to join Juventus has left a big hole in Solskjaer’s attack which Rashford needs to fill if he wants to prove his worth at Old Trafford.
