Celtic will travel to Fir Park to take on Motherwell in their second game of the league campaign. The Hoops are coming on the back of a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Romanian opponents Cluj. The reigning champions have started the league season brightly as they squashed away St. Johnstone in their opening fixture by 7-0.
Motherwell should no doubt provide better resistance, but if Celtic are in the mood, then they can once again run rampant. The Well opened their season with a 0-0 draw against Livingston. The Hoops will go in as the favourite in this clash, but Lennon will surely have one eye on the big second leg clash against Cluj at home.
Team News: Michael Johnston failed a fitness test late on in the tie against Cluj, and he was missed down the left. Lennon might want to save him for the big game. So even if he is fit this time around, the young winger might only make the bench. Leigh Griffiths also had a little bit of injury scare in training recently, but it shouldn’t be too serious. Jozo Simunovic is likely to miss out as he had to leave the pitch early in Romania.
Celtic Predicted Lineup Vs Motherwell
Formation (4-2-3-1)
Defence
Scott Bain should continue in goal for the Hoops. Christopher Jullien should get a start in place of Simunovic. Kristoffer Ajer is likely to partner him in defence.
Hatem Abd Elhamed has looked the part ever since his move, and he should start as the right-back. Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo had a poor game last time around, but he seems to be the only major left-back option at the moment. He should keep his place.
Midfield
Scott Brown is expected to keep his place in the middle of the park. Nir Bitton can be given the nod to start in midfield to keep Callum McGregor fresh for the game against Cluj. Further ahead, Scott Sinclair should be given a start down the left ahead of Morgan.
The Englishman’s future was up in the air for a while, but he is likely to stay at Celtic now with the English transfer window shut. Marian Shved could start ahead of James Forrest down the right keeping in mind the upcoming game. Olivier Ntcham can be preferred over Ryan Christie for the same reason.
Attack
Odsonne Edouard should lead the line once again over Leigh Griffiths.
