According to a recent report by the Expressen, SC Amiens defensive ace Emil Krafth is set to undergo a medical at Newcastle United after penning a four-year contract with the Tyneside outfit in this off-season. The same source has claimed that the Magpies are getting closer to finalising the transfer ahead of tomorrow’s transfer deadline.
The Recent Emergence Of Emil Krafth In French Football
The Ligue 1 prospect played for Osters when he was a teenager and rose up the Swedish outfit’s youth ranks. He went on to represent Bologna in Italy but failed to prove his worth in the Serie A. The Sweden international had a loan spell with SC Amiens where he made a name for himself last season.
Krafth managed to put in a few eye-catching displays at right-back but struggled to be productive in the opposition half. The 25-year-old featured in 36 matches for the French outfit in the previous campaign, scoring one goal while creating one assist in all competitions.
The Stockholm-born talent has also earned some valuable experience at the international level, having represented Sweden in 20 matches thus far.
What Will The Swedish Full-Back Bring To St. James’ Park?
Krafth is moderately paced and can make some darting runs down the right flank. He is a decent dribbler with the ball and can be a capable defender at the back when his team needs him to step up the most. He is also a tireless worker off the ball and can make a few crucial interceptions for his side. However, the jury is still out on whether the Swedish defender would be able to cope with the physical toll of English top-flight football.
Is Krafth A Good Fit For The Magpies?
The acquisition of a talented right-back like Krafth will undoubtedly improve Steve Bruce’s defensive options at the Tyneside club. The Magpies need to get the deal done before the English transfer window slams shut tomorrow as he could be a fantastic signing for them heading into the new campaign.
The Premier League side has only got DeAndre Yedlin and Javier Manquillo at their disposal for the right-back position. Thus, it makes a lot of sense for Bruce to bring in some added competition for them during this summer transfer period.
