Chelsea will travel to Borussia-Park to take on Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday hoping to get a win before they kick off their Premier League season against Manchester United on August 11. The Pensioners have enjoyed a rich vein of form in the preseason thus far and are currently on a four-match winning run while scoring 15 goals in the process. However, the Bundesliga outfit won’t be any pushovers so the West London side would have to be at their best if they are to emerge victorious this weekend.
Frank Lampard is expected to opt for a 4-2-3-1 formation away at Mönchengladbach tomorrow afternoon.
4-2-3-1 Chelsea Predicted Line Up To Face Borussia Monchengladbach
Defence
Kepa Arrizabalaga will lineup in between the sticks for the Pensioners as he looks to keep a clean sheet against the Bundesliga outfit heading into the new Premier League campaign. The Spanish shot-stopper will be protected by the defensive pair of Andreas Christensen and David Luiz as they both look to put in a dominant display at Borussia-Park this weekend.
Marcos Alonso will feature as the left-back while Cesar Azpilicueta operates on the other side as the right full-back. Both defenders will look to keep things tidy at the back so that Chelsea can keep a shut-out ahead of their Premier League opener against Manchester United later this month.
Kurt Zouma and Emerson Palmieri are expected to be a part of Lampard’s bench on Saturday.
Midfield
The Pensioners midfield will be comprised of Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho as the duo will be playing as the anchormen at the centre of the park. The talented trio of Christian Pulisic, Mason Mount and Pedro will operate just ahead of them as part of Chelsea’s attack.
Pulisic grabbed a brace against Red Bull Salzburg in midweek which will give a confidence boost heading into this clash away in Germany. Ross Barkley and Kenedy will have to settle for a spot on Lampard’s bench and might come on during the contest if needed.
Attack
Michy Batshuayi will lead the line for Chelsea up top as he looks to build on his goal against Red Bull Salzburg in midweek. Both Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham would try to make an impact off the bench if Lampard decides to call upon their services.
