According to a recent report by La Provence (via the Sun), Everton are keeping tabs on Olympique Marseille youngster Isaac Lihadji. However, the same source has also mentioned that the Toffees will face stiff competition from Manchester United and Barcelona in pursuit of the French wonderkid.
The Incredible Rise Of Lihadji In French Football
The 17-year-old is a product of Marseille’s Academy and is one of the rising stars of French football. At such a tender age, he has already managed to make a positive impression for France at various youth levels. He has previously appeared in two matches for the French Under-16 side before going on to play an integral role at the Under-17 level. Lihadji has featured in four games for the France U-17 side but is yet to open his goal-scoring account for them.
The French sensation is highly versatile as he can operate across multiple positions in the opposition half. He primarily likes to play as a right-sided wide player but can also fill in as an attacking midfielder if required.
The Marseille-born starlet is gradually working his way up the youth ranks of his boyhood club but would need time to develop his game before he is ready to play at the highest level.
How Will The French Teenager Fit In At Goodison Park?
At 17, Lihadji is still quite a raw talent but has the potential to become a world-class player in his position someday. Marco Silva would need to be patient with him if the Toffees boss can manage to bring him to Goodison Park in the future.
Recruiting a promising talent like Lihadji will undoubtedly bolster Everton’s academy that has produced players like Ross Barkley, Jack Rodwell and Tom Davies over the past decade. The Merseyside club could serve as an ideal destination for the young Frenchman if he is willing to make a switch away from Marseille. At the same time, Lihadji might struggle while adapting to life in a foreign country, as is the case with many young players like him.
Is Lihadji A Prospect For The Future?
The 17-year-old has all the skillset required to be a future star at the blue half of Merseyside. However, for now, Lihadji’s game still has a lot of room for improvement. However, there is no denying that the French attacker is a star in the making so Everton will do well to win the race to land him in the coming years.
