According to a recent report by Marca (via Football.London), Real Madrid wide player Gareth Bale fancies a switch to Manchester United this summer after his move to China fell through earlier this month. The same source has revealed that the Welsh international’s ‘dream’ move would be to join the Red Devils in this off-season. However, it is looking increasingly likely that he might have to settle for atleast another season at the Spanish capital.
The Daily Mail has also claimed that the La Liga sensation will not line up for Los Blancos in their pre-season friendly match against Tottenham Hotspur as he is too ‘distressed’ to travel to Munich after his £1m per week move to Jiangsu Suning failed to materialise during this summer transfer period.
Bale’s Frustrations At The Santiago Bernabeu Stadium
Bale found it challenging to put in a consistent run of performances for the Galacticos in the previous campaign. Even though the Welsh star has won a lot of silverware in Spain, he remains a frustrated figure at Madrid due to the lack of game time on the pitch. The La Liga prospect has been plagued with injuries since his move to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in the summer transfer period of 2013.
The ex-Southampton wide player has failed to live up to the high expectations of the Real Madrid supporters following Cristiano Ronaldo’s exit last summer. Bale found the back of the net 14 times and provided six assists in 42 matches for the Galacticos in the previous term. He is not in Zinedine Zidane’s plans for the new campaign. Thus, his failed move to China will be a bitter pill to swallow for both the player and the club.
The Red Devils should consider making a move to sign Bale this summer as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs to bring in a few world-class players to secure a top 4 berth in the Premier League next season. The 30-year-old has already proven his worth in the English top-flight during his time at Tottenham. Hence, he shouldn’t take too much time adjusting to life in England if Solskjaer can find a way to lure him to the Theatre of Dreams.
What Will The Cardiff-born Winger Bring To Old Trafford?
Bale can dribble with the ball at top speed and make some darting runs behind the opposition backline. He can also carve open a rigid defence with a killer pass in the final third. He can still be a prolific goal-scorer when he is firing on all cylinders. However, injuries have hampered his career thus far, which makes him a huge risk for any of his potential suitors.
Should The Red Devils Make A Move For Bale?
With the Welshman’s willingness to move to Man United coupled with the fact that Real Madrid are actively looking to sell him this summer, Solskjaer would be foolish not to test the waters with a move for Bale this summer. At 30, the former Premier League star still has a few years left in his locker to play at the highest level. Bale is still a world-class player, so maybe taking a gamble on him could pay off for the Red Devils in the coming years.
