According to a recent report by RMC (via the Sun), Newcastle United have agreed on a £9.8m fee to bring Paris Saint-Germain defensive ace Stanley Nsoki to Tyneside during this summer transfer period. The same source has also mentioned that the deal would include a 20 per cent sell-on clause.
However, Get French Football News has claimed that the Magpies are still some way off with regards to agreeing on personal terms with the player. It is expected that the negotiations will continue between the two parties in the coming hours.
The Recent Emergence Of Stanley Nsoki In The French Top-Flight
Nsoki joined PSG as a teenager before graduating from their academy. He worked his way up their youth ranks and finally broke out as a first-team starter last year. The Ligue 1 youngster had a solid campaign at the French capital as he put in some commanding displays at the back in the previous season.
The 20-year-old made 15 appearances for the French champions in the last term while creating two assists across all competitions. Nsoki was defensively sound under Thomas Tuchel’s tutelage in the previous campaign which saw him feature as a centre-back and later, at the left-back position as well. The French starlet is highly versatile as he can also operate as a defensive midfielder which makes him such an attractive proposition for the Magpies.
What Will The French Prospect Add To Steve Bruce’s Team?
Nsoki has decent pace under his belt and is a reliable defender at the back. He reads the game well when left isolated in a 1v1 situation and knows how to make vital interceptions for his side. The Frenchman is also a powerhouse in defence and can command his own box with authority and conviction.
However, Nsoki’s game still has a lot of room for improvement. He needs to work on the offensive side of his game if he intends to continue operating as a full-back. If not, then the PSG youth product would be better off concentrating on moulding his game as a centre-half or as a defensive midfielder.
There is no doubt that a player of Nsoki’s incredible potential will be a massive coup for Newcastle if they can successfully lure him to St. James’ Park before the start of the new campaign. He will not only bolster Bruce’s defensive options at Tyneside but will also be a signing for the future.
