Leeds United might have a busy period ahead in the transfer market in terms of incoming and outgoing players. Victor Orta claimed that they are done with 90 percent of the squad. However, we think that they still need to bring in reinforcements.
One area where they might need immediate attention is now the goalkeeping position. Recently reports from Marca came out that Sevilla could target (Marca) Kiko Casilla in the ongoing transfer window. Now reports from the ABC Sevilla as cited by Yorkshire Evening Post suggests that the Whites are working to sell Bailey Peacock-Farrell instead.
The young Northern Ireland international has been linked with a move to Burnley. It seems likely to us that there will be a departure in terms of goalkeepers, but it is not yet sure who might make way. Here are three goalkeepers the Whites should consider bringing in as replacements.
Freddie Woodman
The Newcastle United goalkeeper is seen as a serious talent. However, he is yet to have a breakthrough campaign at St. James’ Park as Martin Dubravka has been a top performer. Woodman’s claim to fame happened when he helped England win the u-20 World Cup. Not only did he win the golden glove but he saved a penalty in the regulation time in the final to give England a 1-0 win. However, ever since that, the 22-year-old has been only used as a backup option at club level, and the Whites should consider bringing this top talent on loan in this window.
John Ruddy
The experienced goalkeeper is unlikely to dislodge Rui Patricio from the first team at Wolves. Leeds United should look to bring in a proven goalkeeper to help them move up a division. Ruddy might not be a long term option as he is 32, but he has been a reliable custodian for quite some time now.
Joe Hart
If the Whites end up selling Peacock-Farrell to Burnley, then they should look to involve Joe Hart in the deal. Former England no. 1 has struggled to get a foothold at any of the clubs he played after his departure from Manchester City. Burnley have two top options in the form of Pope and Heaton, and once they became fit, Hart was always going to struggle for game time.
The Englishman is a winner who has played at the biggest of stages. His experience to play in crunch situations should help the Whites. Hart should be keen to prove his worth, and going back to the Championship to help Leeds United move up a division could just be the boost which his career needs right now.
