According to a recent report by ESPN, Manchester United are not in the race to secure the services of Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale this summer despite Zinedine Zidane’s eagerness to cash in on his prized asset. In a recent interview (via ESPN), the Galacticos boss shed some light on Bale’s situation at the Spanish capital and said,
“Bale did not play because he is very close to leaving.
“We hope he leaves soon. It would be best for everyone. We are working on his transfer to a new team.
“I have nothing personal against him, but there comes a time where things are done because they must be done, I have to make decisions. We have to change.
“The exit is the coach’s decision, and also of the player, who knows the situation.
“The situation will change, I do not know if in 24 or 48 hours, but it will, and it’s a good thing for everyone.”
Bale’s Lack Of Form For Los Blancos Last Season
Bale had to experience an unforgiving season at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in the previous campaign. He struggled to live up to the high expectation of Real Madrid fans following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo who signed for Juventus last summer. Most people associated with the club were expecting the Welsh speedster to step up to the plate in the absence of the Portuguese superstar. However, Bale could only manage to register 14 goals and create six assists in 42 matches for the Galacticos in the last term.
The 30-year-old has a wealth of experience at the international level after representing Wales in 77 matches while netting 31 times for his country in the process. Maybe, a move away from the La Liga would be a welcome change for Bale as he attempts to reignite his career in European football.
