According to a recent report by Marca, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in bringing Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale back to North London during this summer transfer window. The same source has also claimed that Spurs are prepared to make an offer between €50m and €60m. But they are only willing to pay half of the Welshman’s current wages (€17m per year). Hence, the Galacticos will now have to decide whether to cut their losses on Bale and sell him to the Champions League finalists in this off-season or retain him beyond this summer.
Bale’s Underwhelming Season At The Santiago Bernabeu Stadium
Bale had to endure a difficult season at the Spanish capital as he failed to step up following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus last summer. However, the Welsh international still managed to score 14 goals and create six assists in 42 matches for Los Blancos across all competitions.
The 30-year-old wide player is also vastly experienced at the international level, having made 77 appearances for Wales while registering 31 goals for his nation in the process. Maybe, a change of scenery would be a welcome one for Bale as he looks to rekindle his career in European football.
The Cardiff-born winger still has a few years left in him to play at a high level so Spurs would do well to lure him to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before the start of the new campaign.
What Will The Welsh Speedster Add To Pochettino’s Team?
Bale boasts blistering pace which allows him to dribble with the ball at high speed and make penetrative runs in the opposition half. He is also a potent goal-threat from long range and can even create some decent opportunities for his teammates in the final third.
Will Signing Bale Be A Good Move For Spurs?
The addition of a player of Bale’s ilk will undoubtedly improve Mauricio Pochettino’s attacking options significantly at the North London club. The Welshman will add another dimension to the Tottenham attack as he is a natural winger who is always willing to run the channels to create openings for his teammates.
Injury worries notwithstanding, Bale will be a terrific acquisition for Spurs if they can orchestrate a deal to lure him back to the Premier League before the start of the new campaign.
