According to a recent tweet posted by Sky Sports’ Paul Gilmour, Tottenham Hotspur are having discussions with Real Madrid over a potential move to bring Dani Ceballos to North London during this summer transfer period. Gilmour has also claimed that the Spanish midfielder prefers a loan move which could make it difficult for Spurs to recruit him permanently.
Ceballos still has four years remaining on his current contract at the Spanish capital, so he will be in no hurry to leave the Galacticos. However, a temporary loan move away from the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium could help him reignite his career in European football.
Ceballos’ Lack Of Form In The Spanish Top-Flight
The Spaniard didn’t have the most productive of seasons in the last term when he struggled to produce a consistent run of performances for Los Blancos on the pitch. The 22-year-old featured in 34 matches for the Galacticos in the previous campaign, registering three goals while creating two assists on all fronts.
The ex-Real Betis midfield ace has also secured six international caps for Spain and has scored once for his home nation so far. Ceballos needs a platform to showcase his talents at the highest level. Thus, Tottenham can be an ideal destination for him in the upcoming campaign.
What Will The Sevilla-Born Youngster Bring To North London?
Ceballos can pass the ball accurately from midfield and can create some decent openings for his teammates in the opposition half. The Spanish starlet can also contribute by scoring a few times from long-range, but he needs to be more productive on the field if he wants to succeed at the highest level.
The former UEFA Champions League winner primarily plays as a box to box midfield ace who is versatile enough to operate in a more advanced role in midfield or fill in as a winger on the left flank.
Even if he signs for Spurs on loan this summer, Ceballos has the potential to improve his productivity and be a successful signing for Tottenham as long as Pochettino is willing to provide him with a learning platform to prove his worth in the top tier of England. However, it is highly likely that he won’t be a guaranteed starter at Tottenham which might derail his playing career even further next season.
