As reported by Express, former Manchester United star and World Cup winner Kleberson has urged Liverpool to make a move for Dani Alves. The Brazilian feels Alves could be an excellent fit at Liverpool and should join Anfield, having recently left PSG.
Kleberson told your-promotional-code.co.uk: “I feel maybe could fit in well at Liverpool and Klopp would like him as a style of play. He’s very technical, fast and has an incredible temperament in the big games. He’s a winner.”
But, should the Reds actually make a move for this Brazilian international?
Alves’ decorated career in Europe
Alves is considered as one of the most successful South American defenders playing in Europe at the moment. The right-back was part of Barcelona’s golden era under Pep Guardiola and has won three Champions League titles as well as six La Liga titles with the Blaugrana.
He made almost 400 competitive appearances for Barcelona before leaving Catalonia in favour of a move to Juventus in 2016. The Brazilian international spent only one season in Italy, helping Bianconeri secure the domestic title and then joined PSG the following year.
Alves was a bit-part player at PSG, but he played a key role in helping the club from the capital regain the Ligue 1 title in the 2017/18 campaign and retain the same the following season. But, he ultimately chose to run down his contract and is now available as a free agent.
The 36-year-old is currently preparing with the Brazilian national team in the ongoing Copa America. The Selecao are due to host Peru in the final of the coveted competition tonight, and it will be interesting to see if he can lead his side to glory.
Should Liverpool make a move for Alves?
Liverpool boast a squad that is fully capable of posing a substantial threat for the Premier League title next season. But, what makes them inferior when compared to champions Manchester City is their lack of depth and experience in their roster.
Alves, in that regard, can bring that experience as well as the winning mentality to Jurgen Klopp’s team next season. He can also provide cover for first-choice right-back Trent-Alexander Arnold while his leadership qualities will be crucial for what is a relatively young Liverpool side.
A move to Merseyside also seems like an ideal fit for the ex-Barcelona star as he could potentially help them retain the coveted Champions League title next season. And this is coupled with the fact the Brazilian is available for free – making him an ideal target for the Reds.
