According to a recent report by ESPN, Inter Milan are willing to offer £10m plus Radja Nainggolan to secure the signature of Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic this summer. The same source has also mentioned that the Serbian international is eager to discuss Inter’s interest with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to determine whether he has a future at Old Trafford beyond this summer.
Matic made an excellent start to life at the Theatre of Dreams, but his form took a considerable dip under Jose Mourinho’s tutelage last season. The appointment of Solskjaer as the new manager has cast doubt over his long-term future at the Mancunian club.
Thus, if the Norwegian boss doesn’t fancy using the Serbian midfield ace next season, then it might be a good move to cash in on him in this off-season. Inter’s offer of £10m plus Nainggolan could help Solskjaer rebuild his squad for the upcoming campaign.
Matic Vs Nainggolan: Who Will Be Better for Man United?
The Belgian midfielder has a wealth of experience in the Serie A, having made a total of 315 appearances while scoring 41 goals and creating 30 assists across all competitions. At 31, Nainggolan is currently a year older than Matic and is a far better offensive player than the Man United talent. However, Matic arguably provides more defensive protection and also knows what it takes to taste success in the English top-flight.
What Will The Belgian Playmaker Bring To Manchester?
Nainggolan will add more goals to the Red Devils midfield as he keeps his composure when a goal-scoring chance falls in his path. He is physically dominant and has a lot of energy that allows him to put in a great defensive shift when required. There are no such weaknesses as such in the Belgian’s game.
However, the 31-year-old is slowing down with each season, so Man United might not see the best of him if they agree to his transfer this summer. Losing Matic to get Nainggolan plus £10m seems like a decent offer for the Red Devils as they will get more from the Inter midfield ace.
Should Solskjaer Approve Inter’s Offer?
The Belgian veteran will also be an ideal fit for Solskjaer’s brand of attacking football at Old Trafford. Thus, the Norwegian head coach should consider Inter’s offer and make the deal happen if he does not fancy keeping Matic for the long-run.
