According to a recent report by Marca, Liverpool have joined the race to secure the services of Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos during this summer transfer window. The same source has also revealed that the Reds will face stiff competition from Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in pursuit of the Spanish midfielder in this off-season. Marca also goes on to claim that Jurgen Klopp would only consider recruiting the La Liga prospect permanently and not on a loan deal with a buy-back option for the Galacticos.
Ceballos Had A Mediocre Season In The Spanish Top-Flight
The Real Madrid midfield ace had to endure a tough season as he struggled to put in a consistent run of performances on the pitch. The Spanish prospect featured in 34 matches for Los Blancos in the previous campaign, finding the back of the net three times while providing two assists in all competitions.
The ex-Real Betis starlet has also played in six international matches for Spain and has registered one goal for them thus far. Ceballos is a midfielder who has shown a lot of promise but has found it difficult to fulfil his true potential.
He would be an ideal fit for Klopp’s Liverpool as he would provide more dynamism to the Reds midfield. However, one can argue whether the Merseyside outfit needs to recruit another midfielder as they already have a plethora of options in midfield.
What Will The Spanish Rising Star Bring To Anfield?
Ceballos can retain possession well at the centre of the park and has the vision to create openings for his teammates in the opposition half. He can also make some dangerous late runs from midfield to cause a lot of headaches for the opposing defenders. The Spanish youngster is primarily a box to box midfielder who can also feature in the number 10 position or down the left wing if required.
Acquiring Ceballos: Right Choice For The Reds?
Recruiting a talented midfielder like Ceballos will bolster Klopp’s midfield options significantly at Anfield ahead of the new season. With Naby Keita struggling to cope with injuries along with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is set to come back from a long injury lay-off, there are some concerns over whether Liverpool will have a healthy midfield in the upcoming campaign.
Hence, bringing Ceballos to Merseyside this summer could solve some of those problems as he has the potential to become a world-class talent someday.
