Tottenham Hotspur have made some smart additions to their squad over the past week as they have added both Jack Clarke from Leeds United and Tanguy Ndombele from Olympique Lyonnais. Spurs confirmed on their official website yesterday that they have sealed a move for Ndombele after smashing their transfer record to bring the French talent to England.
The North London outfit have also completed the signing of Clarke but have decided to loan him back to Elland Road for the 2019-20 campaign. With Mauricio Pochettino busy concentrating on rebuilding his squad for the upcoming campaign, let’s take a look at the strongest lineup which Pochettino can opt for at Spurs right now. It is expected that the Argentine manager might prefer to play a 4-2-3-1 formation with Ndombele featuring at the heart of the Tottenham midfield.
4-2-3-1 Strongest Tottenham Hotspur Lineup For The 2019-20 Campaign
Defence
Hugo Lloris might get another season to impress at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after having a mediocre campaign for Spurs in the previous campaign. The French keeper will have the duo of Jan Vertonghen and Davinson Sanchez lining up ahead of him at the centre of Pochettino’s backline. Serge Aurier could get the nod to start in the right-back position if Spurs fail to recruit a new full-back this summer. Kieran Trippier was linked with a move away (via talkSPORT) from North London last month, so the future is uncertain for him at Tottenham.
Danny Rose shares a similar situation as well after the English left-back revealed that he is unsure about his future at the club (via Sky Sports). Hence, we can expect Ben Davies to fill in at left-back if Rose leaves and Pochettino fails to bring in a new left-back.
Midfield
Tottenham’s new summer signing Tanguy Ndombele would be a guaranteed starter alongside Eric Dier at the centre of the park. Both Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko might have to play back-up to them on the Spurs bench.
The talented trio of Heung-min Son, Dele Alli and Lucas Moura could feature ahead of them as part of Pochettino’s attack. Erik Lamela might have to settle for more game time as a substitute even though Christian Eriksen is likely to part ways with Tottenham this summer (via Marca).
Attack
Harry Kane will lead the line for the North London giants up top. The English striker has been Spurs’ best player over the past few years so he will once again play an essential role in determining whether Spurs can win any silverware next season.
