According to Fanatik, as cited by LiverpoolEcho, Everton are ready to rival Watford in the pursuit of Mahmoud Trezeguet. The Kasimpasa winger has become a subject of significant transfer interest following an impressive campaign, and a move to the Premier League could be on the horizon this summer. However, the Toffees could face stiff competition from Watford while Lyon and Galatasaray are also said to be interested.
Trezeguet’s productive spell at Kasimpasa
Trezeguet permanently joined Kasimpasa in a €2 million move from RSC Anderlecht last summer after initially impressing on loan the season before. He needed absolutely no time to settle into the Turkish top flight, instantly becoming a crucial part of the Kasimpasa attack.
During his two years spell at the club, the Egyptian international has been involved 43 goals in 71 matches across all competitions. But, it was his performance last season that impressed the onlookers as the 24-year-old plundered nine league goals and provided nine assists.
He built a formidable offensive combination with M’Baye Diagne, helping Kasimpasa finish eighth in the league table, which is quite impressive.
What can Trezeguet offer to the table?
Trezeguet is advertised as a dynamic winger, who is blessed with a blistering pace that not only allows him to provide a threat on the counter but also gives him a considerable advantage when it comes to making runs in behind the defence. He has a knack for scoring goals as his goalscoring tally suggests.
The 24-year-old is proficient when it comes to exploiting open spaces while his willingness to take on defenders often becomes useful when probing the opposition defence. And finally, he has excellent technical prowess, making him an effective winger, who can be an asset for any of the suitors mentioned earlier.
Should Everton make a move for Trezeguet?
Everton’s lack of reliable natural wingers in their squad has been well documented. The likes of Theo Walcott and Ademola Lookman haven’t really played a prominent role under Silva. And while Bernard has been somewhat impressive, the addition of Trezeguet will offer the Portuguese mastermind with additional options in the final third.
The fact that he can operate on the right flank as well will also allow Richarlison to revert back to his preferred left-wing slot. But, it remains to be seen whether or not Trezeguet will be able to replicate his performances in the fast-paced nature of the Premier League.
