According to a recent report by the Daily Star, LOSC Lille winger Nicolas Pepe is eager to make a switch to English football. A renowned journalist, Sega Diallo has revealed that the Ivory Coast wide player is keen on a change of scenery and wants to move to England in search of greener pastures (via the Daily Star). Diallo said (translated by the Daily Star), “In the heart of #Pepe the battle for the country is won by England who has the preference of the player without further details. Bayern will have to take the big game out to change their minds,”
However, the Liverpool Echo has claimed earlier this week that Liverpool have no interest in pursuing the Ligue 1 sensation during the ongoing summer transfer period.
Nicolas Pepe’s Outstanding Season For Lille
Pepe enjoyed a remarkable campaign with Lille last season when he put in a series of awe-inspiring performances which helped the French outfit claim a second-place finish in the league standings.
The 24-year-old featured in 41 matches for the Ligue 1 side last term, scoring a total of 23 goals while creating 12 assists in all competitions. The former SCO Angers talent has also represented Ivory Coast in 11 international matches and has registered four goals for them so far.
What Does The Ivory Coast International Offer On The Field?
Pepe has loads of pace in his locker and is a prospect for the future. At 24, he is about to embark upon the peak years of his career so the Reds would be acquiring a player in his prime if they decide to opt for him this summer. The French-born sensation has shown in the recent past that he can score or create goals consistently at the highest level.
Pepe Keen On Moving To England: Big Boost For Klopp?
The addition of a natural winger like Pepe will not only improve the depth of Jurgen Klopp’s squad but will also increase competition for players such as Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino next season.
Thus, it makes sense for the Merseyside outfit to consider going for a player like Pepe as he fits the bill perfectly and has the potential to be a world-class talent soon. There is no doubt that Pepe’s desire to move to England will be a massive boost for the Reds if they end up pursuing him this summer.
