According to a recent report by the Liverpool Echo, Everton will face stiff competition in pursuit of Nordsjaelland winger Andreas Skov Olsen during this ongoing summer transfer window. In a recent interview with Danish channel TV3 Sport (via Liverpool Echo and InsideFutbal), the sporting director of Nordsjaelland, Carsten Jensen said, “Right now, 20 clubs have approached us seriously.”
Andreas Skov Olsen’s Rapid Rise In Danish Football
If the Toffees have to face competition from 20 different clubs, then they have a mountain to climb to get a deal done for the 19-year-old attacker in this off-season. The Danish whizkid enjoyed a stellar campaign last season as he put in numerous goal-scoring displays for Nordsjaelland.
Olsen registered 26 goals and grabbed six assists in 44 matches for the Danish outfit in the last term across all competitions. The 19-year-old primarily operates as a right-sided wide man but is equally effective while playing on the left flank.
The Danish starlet is currently an integral member of the Denmark Under-21 side having made ten appearances. He has scored three goals for them thus far. Maybe, a change of scenery this summer could help him take the next step in his playing career.
What Will The Danish Prospect Bring To Merseyside?
Olsen has a lot of pace to burn in his locker and can make speedy runs down the right wing. He is also maturing as a wide player and has added goals to his game as evidenced by his stellar record from last season. However, he needs to improve his link up play in the opposition half and also needs to develop a stronger upper frame if he intends to pass the Premier League test with flying colours.
The addition of a winger of Olsen’s potential will undoubtedly bolster Marco Silva’s attacking options at Goodison Park in the future. However, for now, he still has a long way to go before he is ready to feature regularly for a club like Everton.
Is Olsen Worth The Fight?
There is no doubt that the Danish youngster is well worth fighting for as he has the potential to become a world-class wide player. But if the Toffees are looking for a more immediate solution to their goal-scoring problems, then acquiring the Nordsjaelland winger might not be the best option for Silva’s side for the immediate future.
