According to a recent report by the Metro, Chelsea wide man Callum Hudson-Odoi is prepared to commit his long-term future to the West London club despite being linked with a move to Bayern Munich during this summer transfer window. The same source has also revealed that the English winger will sign a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge after he came close to leaving the Blues in January.
Hudson-Odoi’s Lack Of Game Time For Chelsea Last Season
The English prospect had to endure a tough campaign under Maurizio Sarri as he found first-team opportunities hard to come by at West London last season. However, he did manage to impress when given a handful of first-team starts for Chelsea towards the latter stages of the previous campaign.
Despite his glowing reputation in English football, the Chelsea prodigy still has a long way to go if he wants to fulfil his true potential. It won’t be fair to expect Hudson-Odoi to step up in the absence of Eden Hazard after the Belgian left the club in favour of a move to Real Madrid earlier this summer.
However, the 18-year-old will undoubtedly flourish in Hazard’s absence as he would have more chances to represent Chelsea’s senior side in the coming years.
Hudson-Odoi featured in 29 matches for the Premier League giants last term, registering six goals while providing seven assists across all competitions. At the tender age of 18, he is on the brink of breaking out as a regular first-team starter at a top club like Chelsea which goes to show that the sky is the limit for the London-born starlet.
Hudson-Odoi has also represented Gareth Southgate’s England in two international matches so far. However, he suffered a serious injury at the back end of last season which will see him miss the whole preseason for the Pensioners this summer.
Hudson-Odoi Set To Pen New Deal: Huge Boost For The Pensioners?
On the positive side, he has returned to training and is slowly beginning to recover from the injury, which would be a welcome bit of news for anyone associated with Chelsea. There is no doubt that Hudson-Odoi has all the makings of a world-class winger and could become a legend at the Bridge if he can prove his worth consistently at the highest level. Thus, the recent development of the youngster penning a new deal would be a big boost for the Pensioners and their quest to win trophies in the coming years.
