According to the latest odds released by the United Kingdom bookmakers Skybet (via Football.London), Tottenham Hotspur are leading the chase to secure the services of Fulham wide man Ryan Sessegnon during this ongoing transfer window. Spurs are currently a strong 1/5 favourites to bring the English speedster to White Hart Lane in this offseason and Football.London has also mentioned that the Cottagers are demanding a fee in the region of £35m for the England U21 sensation.
Sessegnon’s Up And Down Career At Craven Cottage
The English wonderkid came through Fulham’s youth set-up before finally breaking into their senior team back in 2016. Sessegnon had featured in 38 matches for the Londoners last season, registering two goals and providing six assists across all competitions.
Sessegnon was unfortunate that he had to experience relegation from the Premier League with his youth club last season after the Cottagers could only manage to gain 26 points from 38 matches in the English top-flight. Thus, Fulham might find it challenging to retain their youth prodigy beyond this summer, which could pave the way for his move to North London.
The English winger will add another dimension to the Spurs attack as Mauricio Pochettino doesn’t have too many natural wide men in his squad at the moment. Except for Erik Lamela, Heung-min Son and Lucas Moura, the Argentine boss has often seen his side struggle to break the opposition teams down due to their inability to stretch the pitch in the final third.
What Will The England Under-21 Starlet Bring To North London?
Sessegnon is very quick on the ball and can make some dangerous runs behind the opposing backline. He is also versatile enough to operate as both an offensive and a defensive force down the left wing. When playing with confidence on the pitch, the 19-year-old can be a difficult man to track in 1v1 situations. However, the Fulham whizkid is still quite young and has struggled to find consistency with his performances on the field.
Will Sessegnon Be An Ideal Signing For Spurs?
The London born teenager has all the talents to be a success story in English football and has the potential to form a fruitful partnership with Danny Rose if he decides to move to North London this summer. He will be a great signing who would add some much-needed depth to Pochettino’s squad.
However, whether he has the mental toughness to succeed at the highest level remains to be seen.
